Coronavirus: Four businesses and 17 people booked

Four businesses and 17 individuals were fined for violating coronavirus measures as part of the daily police checks in the government-controlled areas.

Police said they carried out 2,490 checks between 6am on Monday and 6am on Tuesday.

Officers in the capital conducted 800 inspections and booked four people and one business, while in Limassol, three people were booked after 192 checks.

In Larnaca, officers carried out 505 checks and reported three people and one business, while two individuals and two establishments were booked in Paphos after 180 checks.

Five people were also booked in Famagusta after 428 checks, while no violations were reported in Morphou after 136 checks.

Traffic police carried out 218 checks and marine and port police 178, without any bookings.

Police said the main violation concerned failure to wear a facemask, which is mandatory in indoor and outdoor public places.
