Coronavirus: 23 people booked within 24 hours

Police booked 23 people during 2,871 nationwide checks for the implementation of coronavirus protocols in the last 24 hours.

Most fines were issued in Limassol, where the least number of checks, 221, were carried out and 11 people were booked.

In Nicosia, which saw the highest number of checks compared with other districts, ten people were fined, while one person was booked following 505 inspections in Larnaca and another in Famagusta after 296 inspections.

Meanwhile, Morphou officers did not report any violations after 243 checks.

No checks were carried out in Paphos between 6am on Wednesday and 6am on Thursday, police said.

Traffic, marine and port police also conducted 123 and 121 checks respectively, without any bookings.

Most violations concerned the face mask mandate.
