Covid recovery certificates will only be valid for 90 days for domestic purposes from the end of this month, the health ministry announced on Wednesday.

Citing a cabinet decision dating back to December 21, a press release said that the validity of recovery certificates will be halved, from 180 to 90 days.

This will count for all EUDCC certificate holders currently using a Covid recovery certificate, regardless of whether they issued the certificate before the measure goes into force.

Certificates will continue to be issued via www.eudcc.gov.cy, and will be valid for domestic use for 90 days starting from the individual’s first positive Covid test, as per the relevant decree.

The ministry added that the EUDCC recovery certificate will still be valid for travel purposes for 180 days from the date of the first positive test, which is the maximum period allowed by the relevant European regulation, allowing people to use it for travelling purposes.

Those wanting to travel must consult the Re-open EU website or application, or check with the authorities at the country of arrival, for the validity period, which could vary.
