Police on Monday arrested a 33-year-old man in a child pornography case under investigation.

Investigation into the case began after information received by Europol that an online account holder had uploaded and stored files containing images of child sexual abuse. Examinations of the electronic crime prosecution branch established that the user was a 33-year-old resident of Paphos.

A judicial arrest warrant was obtained against the 33-year-old, under which he was arrested and taken into custody.

Following his arrest, police searched the suspect’s home and a mobile phone, a computer and 20 digital discs were seized as evidence.

The case is under ongoing investigation.
