A new season of events, joining Cyprus musicians with other professionals from the international music scene, is about to embark. Staying true to what it does and continuing its monthly programme of events, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra enters 2023 with a full agenda of concerts for all.

To welcome the New Year, and mark the first concert of 2023, the orchestra will be joined by two world-celebrated musicians, maestro Mark Kadin and pianist Roberto Prosseda in the Starlight 3 concert on January 12 and 13. Taking place first at Limassol’s Pattihio Municipal Theatre and then at Nicosia’s Municipal Theatre, the concert will play compositions by Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann.

Joining CySO will be Maestro Kadin who is the Music Director of the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he is highly valued for his exceptional musicianship, glittering interpretations and creative energy. Also sharing the stage with the orchestra will be Prosseda, one of today’s leading interpreters of Mendelssohn, hence he will delight audiences with the composer’s 1st Piano Concerto. The concert will close with yet another romantic masterpiece, Schumann’s Third Symphony.

Towards the end of January, the orchestra will pay tribute to the Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, as its next concert it called. On January 26, 27 and 28, the orchestra will share the stage with the renowned Israeli conductor Doron Solomon and its very own violinist Nikos Pittas.

In three concerts in Larnaca, Nicosia and Paphos, the audience will enjoy the Cyprus premiere of Karl Goldmark’s Violin concerto in A minor, a hidden gem of the romantic repertoire. Soloist Pittas is bound to capture the delicate emotions of this concerto, full of ardent yearning. Finally, the concert will be paired with Antonín Dvořák’s exquisite Symphony no. 7, which creates a sombre, dramatic atmosphere.

Plenty more concerts are to follow in 2023, with February welcoming two concerts and March three. Some celebrate music and poetry, others French musical romanticism and other present great performers.
