Lidl Cyprus awarded Top Employer 2023

Lidl Cyprus Top Employer

For the sixth consecutive year, the internationally-recognised Top Employers Institute has awarded Lidl Cyprus the title of Top Employer in Cyprus and Europe, in recognition of its orientation and activities for its big team.

This reward is a result of Lidl Cyprus’ activities, designing and implementing a plethora of activities to ensure a friendly and team-centric working environment, with continuous training, growth and development, supporting the family and offering equal opportunities to each of its 700+ employees.

“This sixth consecutive year in which we receive the Top Employer certification highlights the activities we’ve been implementing over recent years,” noted Lidl Cyprus General Manager Spiros Kondylis.

“We overcome challenges such as the constantly-shifting environment, and continue systematically and consistently to offer all that is needed in order for each and every member of our big team to thrive,” he added. “It is a working environment based on the concept of ‘Together’.”

For his part, Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink remarked that: “the particular times we live in bring out the best in people and Organisations”.

“We noticed that this year in our certified Top Employers programme: our 2023 certified Top Employers performed excellently; these employers demonstrated that they always care about the development and well-being of their people,” he continued.

“In so acting, they collectively enrich the working world. Proudly, we announce and celebrate this year’s team of top human-centric employers: the Top Employers 2023.”

The Top Employers Institute is an international, independent organisation that aims to certify those companies characterised by the excellent working conditions they offer. The organisation has 30 years of presence and activity in the industry, and this year, over 2,000 Top Employers from 121 countries were recognised. Thanks to the certified Top Employers for 2023, over 9.5 million employees around the world have a better working environment.

On a related note, Lidl Cyprus was also recently awarded the ‘Equality Employer’ certification by the National Certification Body, which reflects the active promotion of gender equality practices and initiatives within companies. Additionally, the company has signed the Diversity Charter, emphasising its commitment to an inclusive and diverse work environment, free from direct or indirect discrimination and stereotyping.

Today, Lidl remains the only company in Cyprus, regardless of industry, to have received the Top Employer certification for 2023 as a result of putting its people centre-stage. The company plans to hire new staff in 2023 for stores, logistics centres and offices, further strengthening its presence in Cyprus’ retail market, seeking to remain an employer of choice, with consistency and responsibility.
