A fatal traffic accident occurred on Sunday morning in Paphos district, resulting in the the death Kenneth Pearce, 71, from the United Kingdom, a permanent resident of Letymbou, police announced on Monday.

The collision happened around 10.30am when, under circumstances being investigated, the car driven by the 71-year-old deviated from its course on the main Choulou-Tsada road and crashed into a retaining wall, where it was brought to a standstill.

The driver was transferred to Paphos general hospital where the doctor on duty pronounced him dead.

Police are investigating the possibility that the 71-year-old lost consciousness before the traffic accident. The exact causes of death will be determined from an autopsy to take place on Monday.

Traffic police in collaboration with the Stroumbi police station are continuing investigations.
