Two men in Paphos have been arrested in connection with a case of unauthorised dissemination of private content filmed on a mobile device.

According to police spokesperson Michalis Nicolaou, on Thursday two women aged 24 and 26 told officers that a 24-year-old man, an acquaintance of both, while scrolling through one of their phones, sent several explicit photos of the two women to his own number without their permission.

In addition to that, the two women added that the photos were also sent to another person, a 31-year-old man.

According to Nicolaou, the two accused threatened the victims that they would post the photos on social media.

The 31-year-old was arrested on June 1, while the 24-year-old, who allegedly stole the private content, was apprehended on June 4.

The suspects are facing charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, illegal access to an information system, interception of private communication and human trafficking.

They will remain in custody until Thursday.
