An emblematic clock that used to tell the time at the old GSP stadium in the city centre of Nicosia has been placed back in the same area, the Nicosia municipality announced on Wednesday, as works continued in the area.
The area is being turned into two underground parking lots, along with large green spaces, with two man made hills, cafes and restaurants.
The project is expected to be done by the end of the year or in the beginning of 2024, the head of the project Athena Papadopoulou said in July.
The clock had been removed and maintained as the works were ongoing and was put back in place on Wednesday. The municipality said that the clock will begin operating in the coming days.
The stadium project budget amounts to €19,720,000, plus VAT, and includes the construction of the project and 10 years of maintenance.
The project co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund, the state budget and the Nicosia municipality, within the programming period 2021-2027.
