A Greek Cypriot woman appeared in court in the north on Saturday, accused of robbing the Erulku supermarket in Neo Chorio.

According to the Turkish Cypriot police, the woman entered the supermarket on November 12 at around 8:05pm and stole a Nike-branded sweatshirt priced at 630TL (€19.94), before getting in her car and driving away.

She was arrested by Turkish Cypriot police on Friday while trying to re-enter the north, and reportedly confessed to her crime through a Greek-speaking translator.

In court, police said it is “highly likely” she would attempt to cross back to the Republic were she not kept in custody. Judge Zehra Yalkut Bilgec agreed, and she was remanded in custody for three days.
