Police are on Monday investigating the circumstances which led to a woman being seriously injured after falling from the third floor window of an apartment building in Larnaca.

The 34-year-old woman is currently intubated at the Nicosia general hospital where she had been taken on Sunday for head injuries after her fall from her flat in the city’s Ayios Georgios area and her health condition is deemed serious.

Police spokesman Christos Andreou said the woman was taken to Larnaca general hospital at around 4.30pm on Sunday suffering from various injuries to her head and other parts of her body.

Police were informed an hour later about the incident and officers went to the scene of the incident, seeking witness testimony.

Andreou added that investigations to date indicate the 34-year-old fell from the third floor of the apartment where she lives with a 33-year-old man with whom she has a relationship.

“It seems the woman fell from the window and tests are being carried out to establish the circumstances of her fall,” Andreou said.

The 34-year-old’s partner has made allegations about what preceded her fall to the police.

Andreou said the police have testimony stating the man was on the ground floor of the building when the woman fell, however, police are investigating all possibilities.

The 34-year-old appears to have been in Cyprus for a few days on a visit. She seems to have hit an awning first, which broke her fall.

The case is being under ongoing investigation by Larnaca CID.
