Finance Minister Makis Keravnos is in Brussels where he will participate on Monday and Tuesday in the meetings of the Eurogroup and the EU council of finance ministers (Ecofin).

At Monday’s meeting the ministers will discuss policies to address the negative consequences of energy prices on the competitiveness of the Eurozone. They will also exchange views with IMF representatives regarding the latest economic developments.

On Tuesday, the finance minister will represent Cyprus at the Ecofin council meeting, where the priorities of the Belgian presidency of the council for the first half of 2024 will be presented.

Ministers are then expected to reach conclusions on the main economic policy priorities for 2024 as part of the coordination process of the European semester. Finally, they will exchange views regarding the economic consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The minister of finance will return to Cyprus on Wednesday.
