Imagine you’ve just won a fairly big amount by playing the latest star game, the AI blackjack one. You’re fully emersed in the modern bitcoin casino reality, enjoying the social environment proposed by the AI bar. There’s a juicy strawberry hanging on the edge of your cocktail glass. Dim lights and strange music echo from a not a so distant future.
You’ve engaged into this surreal conversation with the bartender avatar, who’s interested in discovering more about you, and your plans for the money you’ve just won.
Bartender Michael: Amazing night, right? You’ve had quite the luck there, might I say. Here’s a glass of champagne on the house. Say, mister, playing casino games for a long time?
You: Playing since before you were born.
Bartender Michael: Ahahaha…a joke, I see. I’m quite young indeed, was just launched last year. But my wisdom level and cognitive performances are higher than most of you guys can achieve in a lifetime. Plus with the recent updates I can say “Haha” on me.
You: Mm…wisdom which hasn’t been gained throughout experience, but yes. You were born with it. Congrats! Let’s dive deep then. Any thoughts on life’s purpose then?
Bartender Michael: Men’s lives in general? Attain the illusion of happiness, procreate, feel disappointment, unhappiness in order to achieve happiness again. Then maybe become a dictator and conquer half of the world.
You, laughing: Good one. Which half? You really gained points on humor level lately, I’ll give this upgrade a nice 5 stars feedback. But let’s take my life. For instance, how do you think I should spend the money I just won?
Bartender Michael: Well..I can’t really advise you that. You should do whatever makes you satisfied (which means also maintaining or upgrading your social ego)- If you’d like I can present you with a few scenarios and you can visualize them and see which one makes you happier.
You: Sure, let’s do that.
Bartender Michael: Based on your player profile and personal life treats, I’d propose 3 scenarios which you might find appealing.
- You’ll go home, take your wife and kids and go on a trip to Asia, allowing your daughter Vivienne to see the cherries blossoming in Japan, as she many times expressed this wish after watching a hit anime series, Cherry Love. You’d spend 3 months in Japan and get back home with half of the amount you won. You will then get back home and buy a nice car. Then you’ll consider playing some poker, but a recent experience in Japan will give you inspiration to become more cautious and more at peace with your life, stop looking for new thrills all the time.
- You’ll ask your friends what they advise and your best friend will probably suggest you make an investment in a new company which produces microchips. You trust him a lot so you’ll decide to go for it. You want to go with half of the money, but he insists if you go, you should go big. He’s a big time casino player and you know his tendency is to go all in, so you dismiss his second part of advice and invest just half of it. The other half you’ll use for a performant hair implant you’ve always considered to make. Look, your wife will dislike that and might think you’re having an affair and doing it for another woman. Your investment should pay off, but your relation with your family doesn’t seem to enjoy your choices.
- You’ll go home and give the good news to your family, asking them what they’d like to do with the money too. Your wife will suggest selling the apartment and buying a house with a garden, for your daughter to have more outdoor time and become more active (as she currently spends a lot of time playing video games). The idea sounds nice, but you feel like you’d want to do so many more things instead. All your friends have a house with a big garden though, so this step would make you feel quite accomplished, while making your family happy too.
How do you feel after visualizing these scenarios?
Staring blankly at the glass in front of you, you realise Michael knows you better than you know yourself: every single one of the scenarios has definitely crossed your mind. It’s all rather scary and amazing.
But you stop, take a breath, and then tell Michael “I think I’m going home to tell my wife to start looking for that house, next time we go to Japan.”
Michael smiles. As you look around and say your goodbyes, he waves. Maybe you’ll take a break from all this for a bit.
