Two people were arrested with fake passports attempting to leave from Limassol port, police said on Monday.
The two individuals were caught on Sunday attempting to board the MV Daleela ship at the port at around 10am.
The boat was heading to Piraeus, Greece. The first man, 36, presented a Spanish passport, which appeared fake.
During questioning, the man admitted to being Iranian and not Spanish. He was arrested for presenting the fake passport.
The man also claimed that he bought the fake document in Turkey for €15,000.
Police also arrested another man, 20, who presented a fake Romanian passport. He was later determined to be from Syria and to have bought the fake document in Cyprus for €1,500.
The two are expected to appear in Limassol court for a remand.
