Passenger traffic at Cyprus’ Larnaca and Paphos airports increased by 7.14 per cent in October 2024 compared to October 2023, according to the Transport Ministry.

The ministry said this resulted in record traffic being recorded during this time, with over 1.3 million travellers.

Specifically, Cyprus welcomed a record-breaking 1,338,065 passengers through Larnaca and Paphos airports in October.

The ministry pointed out that this increase aligns with revised forecasts for 2024, which project over 12 million passengers by year-end, setting a new all-time high.

Moreover, the ministry stated that “despite the challenges posed by escalating geopolitical tensions, passenger traffic for the January–October period has reached record levels, showing a 5.3 per cent increase over the same period in 2023”.

Both Larnaca and Paphos airports showed robust October performance, with Larnaca seeing an 8.8 per cent rise in traffic and Paphos reporting a 3.2 per cent increase.

Larnaca’s passenger numbers approached 1 million (957,625), while Paphos registered 380,440 passengers, setting its highest October traffic to date.

The ministry added that “the main markets driving this increase are the UK, Greece, Israel, Poland, and Germany”.

This has resulted in the number of flights rising by 10.54 per cent year-on-year to a total of 10,390 flights.
