Consultations on financial incentives for public doctors are to be rediscussed at the health ministry on Thursday.
Doctors’ unions Pasyki and Pasydy are to meet once more with Health Minister Michalis Damianos in a further effort to resolve the deadlock regarding the renumeration amount due to them.
They will discuss the proposal for the upcoming years 2025-2027 as a first matter of priority, head of Pasyki Sotiris Koumas said.
The second matter to be discussed is an anticipated counter proposal from Damianos regarding financial incentives for the years 2023-2024.
Koumas said the deadline for negotiations is by next February.
New information had been revealed at the last health committee meeting, Koumas said, which doctors expected would be taken into consideration.
“There was additional content in the auditor’s report, which Okypy had played down,” he said.
On Sunday, the health minister had expressed optimism about resolving the ongoing dispute with doctors within the week.
Last week’s strike could have been avoided, he said, but it was time to forge ahead.
The standoff between doctors and Okypy had led to a 48-hour strike last week. Doctors insist they are owed €4.5 million in financial incentives for 2023. Okypy had offered them €4.1m in July, before an independent analysis found that they were owed just €2.5m.
The general auditor’s office had requested clarification on whether Okypy had entered into any additional arrangements with doctors after the former alluded to the matter.
