Hoteliers in Kato Pyrgos Tilliria raised key concerns over staffing, connectivity, and beach upgrades during a meeting with Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis on Thursday.

According to a statement, the meeting was also attended by general manager of the deputy ministry of Tourism Costas Constantinou and community council leader of Kato Pyrgos Tilliria, Nikos Kleanthous.

Discussions focused on critical issues, including improving accommodation staffing, enhancing the area’s connectivity with airports and other key points of interest, and protecting and upgrading local beaches.

Efforts to lengthen the tourist season and tackle seasonality were also addressed, alongside strategies for the effective promotion of the Tylliria region.

Participants explored opportunities to develop special interest tourism products that could attract a broader audience.

The meeting also provided insights into the ‘Incentive Scheme for the Upgrade of Hotels and Tourist Accommodations in Rural, Mountainous and Remote Areas to Modernise and Improve the Competitiveness of the Tourism Product.’

This initiative, introduced by the competent directorate of the ministry of Tourism, aims to support the revitalisation of the Tylliria area.

Deputy Minister Koumis conveyed the government’s positive stance on fostering cooperation among all stakeholders, emphasising its commitment to addressing tourism industry challenges.

“The Deputy Ministry of Tourism is ready to actively contribute to tackling the problems faced by the industry,” Koumis said, adding that such collaborations benefit the entire tourism ecosystem.
