An unaccompanied minors facility in Larnaca was evacuated early on Tuesday morning after a fire broke out and the building filled with smoke.
Fire Department spokesman Andreas Kettis said the fire started at 3.40am on the first floor of the building and two fire engines were sent to extinguish it.
At the time of the fire, there were 20 residents and two members of staff in the building.
One person was found still sleeping and was safely escorted out of the building by firefighters.
The fire caused extensive damage to the office and its equipment.
