An evening of baroque music is set to captivate Limassol audiences. Virtuoso cellist August Krepak will present a solo evening on January 19, not in a theatre hall or a music bar but at a location that will be especially transformed to host the event.
The Solo Bach – Baroque Cello evening will be hosted at The Warehouse by IT Quarter and more specifically in its cosy fireplace room. The event’s repertoire will include three cello suites by Bach, performed by the Moscow State Conservatory graduate.
Talking about his recital’s repertoire, Krepak has said: “This music has been with me since childhood; it is my lifelong ‘go-to book,’ one that appeared in my life long before my passion for baroque music. For many cellists, Bach’s suites are a special language of communication: we can understand each other through this music. It holds its own values, even a unique humour. But this language can also speak to anyone who is open to dialogue and beauty. Very soon, we will speak this language of Johann Sebastian Bach together.”
Krepak will perform solo on January 19 yet frequently shares the stage with fellow musicians. He is a member of the early music ensembles Gnessin Baroque and the legendary Richter Trio whilst also a regular guest at international festivals such as December Nights (Moscow), Early Music (St Petersburg) and The Great Escape (Brighton) amongst others. In the upcoming recital, Krepak will perform Bach’s masterpieces in an intimate setting for the first time in Cyprus.
