After a knife attack injuring three young men, aged 16, 18 and 19 in Limassol on Saturday, a 16-year-old appeared in court on Monday and was subsequently placed under eight-day detention.

Police are investigating an attempted murder.

The incident occurred at the old port on Saturday evening where two groups of men engaged in a fight leaving three of them wounded and admitted to local hospitals.

According to Limassol police spokesperson Lefteris Kyriakou, the fight originated in an argument between one of the hospitalised men and his girlfriend, two men who rushed to support him and another group of three.

While the 19-year-old was discharged with slight injuries, both the 16 and 18-year-old remain under medical observation, with the latter intubated and in critical condition.

Police arrested the 16-year-old suspect on Sunday while the search for two more individuals continued.
