Aris Limassol Football Club has pledged €50,000 to the Americos Argyriou preventive paediatrics centre for 2025, a significant donation aimed at supporting the centre’s vital health initiatives. The announcement was made at a press conference in Limassol, with club officials and centre representatives in attendance.
President of the preventive paediatrics centre, Dr Argyris Argyriou, expressed his gratitude to Aris Limassol for their support.
“Aris Limassol is setting an example by recognising the invaluable contribution of our centre to public health,” Dr Argyriou said.
He highlighted the centre’s 37 years of providing free preventive screenings for pregnant women and newborns in Cyprus. Despite the challenges it has faced, the centre remains the only provider of national screening programmes in the country.
“We have not only survived but have become a leader in preventive health,” Dr Argyriou continued, adding that the centre’s new collaborations with the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics and Makarios Hospital will introduce screenings for eight additional metabolic disorders, positioning Cyprus at the forefront of metabolic disease testing.
Aris Limassol president Vladimir Fedorov reaffirmed the club’s commitment to its broader social role.
“Our focus extends beyond sports and match results. We want to build something greater for society,” Fedorov said.
He also pointed out that the club’s football academy, which trains 2,000 children, plays a pivotal role in shaping young athletes not just in football, but as contributors to society at large.
As part of their ongoing initiative, Aris Limassol has introduced a “Love Package,” a collection of essential baby products emblazoned with the club’s colours and emblem. These packages will be distributed to newborns screened at the Preventive Paediatrics Centre, further solidifying the club’s commitment to nurturing the next generation.
