A fourth person has been arrested in connection with a major drug trafficking case in Limassol that shocked authorities last November.
The 47-year-old man was detained on Monday under a court warrant and is now in police custody. The Limassol branch of the drug squad (Ykan) confirmed that investigations are continuing.
The case dates back to a large-scale operation in 2024, which uncovered a substantial haul of narcotics. Police seized 5.77 kilograms of cocaine and 12.8 kilograms of cannabis. Three individuals were initially arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
During the operation, officers observed a 33-year-old man drive to a location in Limassol, where he met a 50-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman. The younger man was seen transferring a suitcase from his vehicle into the woman’s car. As all three left the scene, each in their own vehicle, they were intercepted and searched by police.
Inside the woman’s car, officers found a suitcase containing five packages of cocaine and five packages of cannabis, weighing 5.77kg and 5.65kg respectively. She was arrested on the spot. Police also seized her mobile phone and €70 in cash for examination.
The 50-year-old was found with two mobile phones and €1,845, while the 33-year-old had two phones and €225. These items were also taken in for evidence.
Further searches were carried out at the 33-year-old suspect’s properties in Nicosia. At one site, police discovered seven packages of cannabis weighing around 7kg. At another, they found an additional 140g of cannabis divided into five bags.
A small quantity of cannabis, about 13g, was also found during a search at the woman’s home.
All three were arrested under court warrants on multiple charges. These include conspiracy to commit a felony, drug possession, possession with intent to supply, drug supply, and money laundering.
They were brought before Limassol District Court, which issued six-day remand orders to allow further investigation.
Police have not yet released further details on the latest arrest but confirmed that the probe is ongoing.
