Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas began the second day of his official visit to Cyprus with a tour of the old town of Nicosia and a walk along the ceasefire line, accompanied by President Nikos Christodoulides and Nicosia mayor Charalambos Prountzos.
Tasoulas arrived at the town hall at 9am and was shown a model of the area, followed by a rooftop view of the capital itself.
He then walked along the ceasefire line, with Prountzos explaining that residents of buildings partially in the buffer zone were not able to open their windows towards the north.
Tasoulas visited Cyens Centre of Excellence, where director of the centre Giorgos Chrysanthou gave him a tour and explained the work done there, including the collective project Nimata (threads) to mark 50 years since the 1974 Turkish invasion of the island. As part of the project, refugees pulled threads on a map marking their course in the island since their displacement.
Tasoulas was also accompanied on the tour by Greek ambassador in Nicosia Ioannis Papameletiou.
