President Nikos Christodoulides is visiting Latvia on Thursday as part of a series of visits to the Baltic countries ahead of Cyprus’ EU rotating presidency in the first half of 2026, with Ukraine and the Middle East high on his agenda.

In Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, Christodoulides will be discussing bilateral relations, Ukraine, the Middle East and Cyprus’ EU priorities.

Christodoulides was officially welcomed at Riga Castle on Thursday morning, followed by a private meeting with Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs and expanded talks between the delegations of the two countries.

Thursday’s schedule also includes a lunch with Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina, visits to the Freedom Monument, the Occupation Museum and the Nato Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence, and an official dinner hosted in his honour by the Latvian president.

Christodoulides will be departing for Lithuania on Thursday evening.

On Friday, he will be meeting with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda at the presidential palace in Vilnius, with whom he will hold private talks and then attend a working lunch.

He will be travelling to Tallinn, Estonia, on Friday afternoon, where he will have a private meeting with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal at Stenbock House.

Christodoulides will also meet with Estonian President Alar Karis, in the presence of delegations from both countries.

He is due to return to Cyprus on Friday evening.
