Petroleum product sales in Cyprus rose by 7.7 per cent in July 2025 compared to the same month last year, reaching 144,790 tonnes, according to the statistical service (Cystat).
The increase was largely driven by marine gasoil provisions, which surged by 270.3 per cent year-on-year. Aviation kerosene sales also strengthened, up by 13 per cent.
Other products that recorded annual growth included asphalt, which rose by 9.3 per cent, road diesel by 3.8 per cent, heating gasoil by 3.3 per cent, motor gasoline by 3.0 per cent, kerosene by 2.2 per cent and liquefied petroleum gases by 0.8 per cent.
By contrast, sales of light fuel oil and heavy fuel oil dropped sharply, falling by 67 per cent and 59.7 per cent respectively.
Sales from filling stations also posted gains. In July 2025, they increased by 3 per cent compared to July 2024, reaching 62,497 tonnes. The rise was mainly supported by stronger sales of road diesel and unleaded motor gasoline.
On a monthly basis, total petroleum product sales were up by 2.9 per cent compared to June.
Aviation kerosene sales increased by 4.5 per cent, while asphalt rose by 27.9 per cent. Motor gasoline and road diesel followed with increases of 5.9 per cent and 4.8 per cent respectively.
Meanwhile, kerosene sales dropped by 68 per cent month-on-month, while heavy fuel oil fell by 32.3 per cent.
Total petroleum product stocks at the end of July 2025 climbed by 30.8 per cent compared to the end of June, continuing the upward trend.
Looking at the broader picture, sales in the first seven months of 2025 rose by 4.5 per cent year-on-year, reaching 870,170 tonnes.
