On November 24, 2025, UNIC Athens, the academic and research seat of the University of Nicosia in Greece, welcomed the first students of the Law School for the academic year 2025-2026 at its state-of-the-art facilities in the Elliniko area.

The University has received certification for its Law (LLB) programme from the National Authority for Higher Education (ETHAAE), and student registration has begun and will be completed on December 5, 2025.

Dean of the University of Nicosia Law School and President of the UNIC Athens Law School Council, Professor Achilleas K. Emilianidis, hailed the milestone.

“The launch of the Law School at UNIC Athens, now the fourth law school operating in the country, is a historic event in itself and introduces a new dynamic to the field of legal education,” he noted.

“With a curriculum that follows international academic standards and focuses on an in-depth understanding of Greek law, we aspire to offer our students a modern, demanding and comprehensive learning environment,” he continued.

“The fact that the Law programme is a popular choice among Greek students at the University of Nicosia reflects the trust and quality of our academic approach. At UNIC Athens, we are continuing this journey by creating an environment that enhances critical thinking, scientific competence, and the professional prospects of our graduates.”

For her part, Director of the UNIC Athens Law School, Professor Irini Stamatoudi, also expressed satisfaction at the accomplishment.

“After 30 years of providing high-quality legal education in Nicosia, and with graduates who excel as lawyers, prosecutors, judges, notaries and legal advisors in leading companies and institutions in Greece, the rest of Europe and internationally, we are opening our doors in Athens,” she said.

“The launch of the Law School in Greece is an important milestone for our university community, as it will not only make it easier for hundreds of families who want their children to study in the country at a university that ranks among the highest internationally (#501-600 in the World | Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026), but also because we have already attracted important scientists and researchers who emigrated due to the brain drain and wish to return,” she added.

At UNIC Athens, the Law School offers a four-year Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree in Greek. The programme includes courses exclusively in Greek law, taught by experienced professors. Particular emphasis is placed on deepening fundamental and specialised areas of legal science with strong theoretical and practical significance, on understanding law within a comparative European context and on linking legal education to contemporary academic and professional requirements.

The Law programme at UNIC Athens is designed to follow international guidelines in the field of legal science and ensures access to the legal profession internationally.

UNIC Athens has adopted a modern model of university education combining knowledge, technology and social awareness. With an emphasis on research, innovation and the connection between theory and practice, it offers an environment that encourages interdisciplinarity and the development of skills for tomorrow’s world.
