A 13-year-old boy is in serious condition at Makarios hospital after being injured in a scooter accident in Larnaca.

According to a police statement, the incident occurred at around 11.50am on Sunday, when the boy was riding an electric scooter on a road in Aradippou, heading towards the livestock area of Livadia.

Under circumstances still under investigation, he lost control of the e-scooter and fell onto the road.

The teenager was initially taken by ambulance to Larnaca general hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Makarios hospital in Nicosia, where he is being treated in the paediatric intensive care unit.

Doctors said the boy’s condition is serious, as he has sustained an occipital bone fracture, a subdural haematoma, a subarachnoid haemorrhage and multiple abrasions.
