Coronavirus: Eight businesses, 118 people booked

Violations

Eight businesses and 118 people were charged for violating coronavirus decrees in the 24 hours up to 6am on Sunday.

The businesses were in Limassol, Nicosia, Larnaca and Famagusta.

Two were charged for having insufficient ventilation in the outdoor space, one for admitting more people than the space allowed, one for allowing people to sit inside and four for notenforcing social distancing.

They were fined between €500 and €1,000.

A police spokesman said that in the same period a total of 11,249 checks had been carried out.

In Nicosia a total of 1,353 checks were carried out and 26 people plus one business were booked, in Limassol 4,411 checks saw 53 people and one business charged, in Larnaca there were 1,252 checks with 13 people charged and five in a business, in Paphos 1,404 checks saw 12 people charged, in Famagusta 1,324 checks saw 12 people and one business charged and in Morphou 686 checks led to one person being charged.
