Yellow weather alert for strong winds overnight

Cyprus is bracing for strong winds as the met service issued a yellow weather warning Wednesday evening.

The met service warned the public of debris that might be blown around, while outdoor activities might be temporarily disrupted.

The country expects wind force of 8 Beaufort to affect the western and northern coastal areas, while gale force of 7 Beaufort are expected to affect mountainous areas, the service added.

The warning will remain in force until 4am on Thursday.

Temperatures on Wednesday were 17C to 19C  inland and coastal areas and to 0C in the higher mountain areas, according to Kitasweather.

On Thursday, temperatures are expected to fall up to 4C lower than the average for seasonal levels, around 16C to 18C inland and 17C to 19C on the coast and 1C in Troodos.
