Two fires in Nicosia were under control on Saturday afternoon, the fire services said.

One close to the Stelios Ioannou foundation in Strovolos, Nicosia, spread across five donums of land until two fire trucks managed to put it under control.

At the same time, three trucks from the fire service and one from the forestry department managed to put a fire in Nisou village under control which burned one donum of wild shrubs and eucalyptus trees close to a residential area.

Earlier in the day, the ground floor of a home was ablaze in Dherynia. Famagusta fire services deployed two vehicles to the scene to put out the flames. The home was empty and the dog that was there was rescued.
