Coronavirus: 138 people and three businesses fined for breaking decrees

A total of 138 individuals and three businesses were charged by the police in the 24 hours leading up to 6am on Sunday for breaking coronavirus restrictions.

A police spokesman told the Cyprus News Agency that these were the result of 8,760 checks.

In Nicosia 1,983 checks resulted in 21 people being fined, in Limassol 1,538 checks were carried out and 33 people and one business fined. In Larnaca 1,551 checks saw 25 people and one business owner fined and in Paphos 20 people and one business were fined as the result of 901 checks. In Famagusta 1,002 checks were carried out with 15 people fined, while in Morphou 708 checks saw one person fined.

The traffic police stopped 821 people and fined 23 of them.
