The health ministry on Tuesday recalled a brand of coconut milk due to high levels of a substance not compliant with EU regulations.

The EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) informed the ministry that after manufacturer tests, two batches of coconut milk by the brand BjORG were found to have abnormally high levels of ethylene oxide, which is not approved for use in the EU.

The public health service has asked retailers to remove the product from their shelves.

People who might have already bought some were asked to check the packaging for the following information:

Brand name: BjORG, Product: Coconut 1L, Batch number: 201126, Best before date: 27/11/2021, and

Brand name: BjORG, Product: Coconut export 1L, Batch number: L 210126, Best before date : 26/01/2022

If it matches the product they bought they should not consume it.
