A record four people died in the north from Covid-19 on Friday, while 161 new infections were reported by Turkish Cypriot health authorities.

The number of deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020 has reached 56 in the north, 16 in August alone.

Health authorities have also recorded 5,790 infections.

Hospitals are treating 106 people, 16 in ICUs. An additional 2,225 people are undergoing treatment or are being monitored at home.
