Two men aged 32 and 35 were arrested late on Thursday on suspicion of stealing copper pipes in Paphos.
The arrests occurred following a tip-off to Paphos police headquarters regarding two people who were seen unloading copper pipes from a vehicle that had stopped at an apartment building parking space.
Officers who arrived at the scene spotted a 35-year-old man near the vehicle, who claimed that the vehicle and its load belonged to the driver who had gone to the kiosk.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of illegal possession of property, while a little time later, they also arrested a 32-year-old man for the same case.
Copper is often targeted by thieves as it is used for so many items, including fibre optics to plumbing and electrical, which also drove up its price.
