Limassol will welcome a new showcase as The Gallery 45, a newly-opened contemporary art and design exhibition space in the heart of the old town, welcomes four artists from November 20. The Parallel Project, as the exhibition is called, features internationally-renowned Cypriot furniture and product designer Moussaris, together with Athens-based visual artists Anastasia Papaleonida-Pountza, DonForty and Robert Seikon for their debut exhibition in Cyprus.

Presenting a curated installation of limited-edition pieces along with the international launch of an exclusive piece designed for the Gallery 45, Moussaris takes part in The Parallel Project as his first-ever local exhibition. Though this will be his inaugural Cyprus introduction, Stelios Moussaris has gained international recognition with his impressive collaborations abroad.

His mind-bending conceptual furniture and surreal functional art objects are all handmade, blending industrial technology with organic handcraft. His works are on permanent display at the 21st Century Design Wing of the Louvre in Paris. With a client base spanning major international collectors, architects, Hollywood notables and featuring in over 40 reputable design magazines, his creations put Cyprus high on the artistic map. More recently Moussaris has been awarded the 2021 silver A’ Design award making the 33-year-old Larnaca-based artist a talent to watch.

2Also part of the exhibition is Papaleonida-Pountza, best known for her paintings, murals and art installations using different mediums such as plaster, clay, ink, paper, fabric and wood. Her more recent works play with the repetition of abstract and dynamic forms to create calm yet chaotic artworks full of movement and texture. Anastasia’s works can be found in industrial spaces in Greece as she works to interact the place with the space and the building itself while often deriving influences from the elements that surround it.

DonForty – Evangelos Sarantaris – is a Greek visual artist based between Valencia and Athens, where he studied Graphic Design and has been working mainly with murals, illustrations and paintings. As an active street artist since 2002, his works of art consist of installations inspired by simple materials found on the streets. His maximalist designs, with intricate hand-drawn lines battling for space among intense touches and improvised drippings adorn walls, spaces and galleries in several countries across Europe and now, in Limassol too.

The last of the artists joining the upcoming showcase is Seikon, a Polish visual artist also based in Greece. His work focuses on contemporary and abstract paintings, murals and sculptures. Exhibiting internationally since 1999, his style has evolved and his interests have focused mainly on geometry and lines and in particular his play with parallel lines and colour. Seikon specialises in creating unique geometric patterns that have the power to transform a surface through the use of colour and design.
