Alphamega, Intercollege and UNIC launch new course

ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets, in collaboration with the Intercollege Culinary Arts Programme and Training and Development Unit of the University of Nicosia (UNIC), announced the launch of a new training course at a press conference held on April 14..

At the press event, the hypermarket chain’s CEO, George Theodotou, and HR Manager, Marios Antoniou, both hailed the initiative, while on behalf of Intercollege, Executive Director Nicholas Kythreotis, also saluted the effort. Pancyprian Butchers’ Association President Costas Livadiotis also delivered an address.

Also in attendance were CCCI Secretary General Marios Tsiakkis, OEB Director General Michael Antoniou, POVEK General Secretary Stefanos Koursaris, as well as other special guests.

In their addresses, ALPHAMEGA Master Butcher Neophytos Neophytou and Chef Panicos Theodosiou, Culinary Arts Instructor at Intercollege, offered further insight on the new training programme.

All speakers expressed their enthusiasm about the initiative, revealing that their shared aim was to lend assistance in covering labour market shortages, while aiding the profession’s sustainability.

The Butchery Training Course, a fast-track programme, offers professional training, blending theory and practice via the various courses it provides. Taught by experienced field experts and professors, classes will take place at the modern premises of Intercollege and University of Nicosia, as well as at ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets’ Meat Laboratory.

The Course offers a European Qualifications Framework (EQF Level 4) Certificate of completion and immediate recruitment opportunities at ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets. Further, the programme boosts attendees’ employability, allowing them to pursue careers in relevant sectors in Cyprus and the EU.

Thus, through the Butchery Training Course, delivered with the support of the Pancyprian Butchers’ Association, ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets is continuing to contribute to, and strengthen, the local community and economy, in collaboration with the Intercollege Culinary Arts Programme and UNIC’s Training and Development Unit.

Registration for Cyprus’ first Butchery Training Course have already begun.
