High concentrations of dust are in the air again on Monday according to measurements from ground stations of the air quality monitoring network.

The public, particularly vulnerable groups (children, older people and the infirm) are urged to avoid circulating outdoors until dust levels drop, as the small size of respirable particles present in the air may have negative effects on health.

Employers must take appropriate organisational and/or technical measures after assessing any risks that their employees may face while working in open spaces, and it is recommended that workers in such spaces use appropriate means of personal protection.

Hourly dust concentrations measured at 7 am were:

Nicosia: 56.6 μg/m3

Limassol: 81.3 μg/m3

Larnaca: 46.6 μg/m3

Paralimni: 50.9 μg/m3

Paphos: 80.3 μg/m3

Zygi: 34.4 μg/m3

Ayia Marina Xyliatou: 93.8 μg/m3
