An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale was recorded between Cyprus and Lebanon, the geological survey department announced on Sunday.

The quake was felt at 12.02pm, the department of the agriculture ministry said.

Its epicentre was 110km south-southeast of Paralimni at a depth of 8km.

It was lightly felt in several areas of the island.

The earthquake is being monitored by the seismology centre of the geological survey department but because only small tremors are expected after the quake, it said no more statements will be made.
