Limassol police on Saturday said they were investigating an attempted murder after a 44-year-old man who was assaulted the previous morning was treated in serious condition at the Nicosia general hospital.

Police are looking for a 29-year-old man.

According to the evidence, shortly before 9.30 on Friday morning, while the 44-year-old was on a street in Limassol, he was attacked by a 29-year-old man, who allegedly hit him on the head with a stone and then punched and kicked him on the head.

As a result of the attack, the 44-year-old suffered serious head injuries, sustaining fractures to his forehead, nose and eye area, as well as a subdural haematoma.

He was initially transferred to Limassol general hospital and then to Nicosia general hospital, where he is being treated.

According to his doctors, he is in serious but stable condition.
