Firefighters on Monday responded to a house catching fire in the area of Limassol known as “Havousa.”

Around noon police received a call that the two-story house was ablaze and responded with two fire engines dispatched from the Agios Ioannis fire station.

The firefighters extinguished the blaze but the house suffered extensive damage from the fire and heat. No injuries were suffered as the tenants were absent abroad.

From examinations that followed, in collaboration with the police and the electromechanical service, it was determined that the cause of fire was a lightning strike.
