A 59-year-old man was injured on Thursday while carrying out agricultural work in Statou Agios Fotiou village in Paphos.

According to police, the man called for help at around 3pm and reported he had had an accident involving his tractor.

Police and an ambulance went to the scene where it was determined that the man had tried to dismount from the tractor while it was in operation, and got his jacket hooked on the gear lever, causing the tractor to move forward and drag the man along with it. The tractor eventually crashed into a parked car and came to a halt.

The man was taken to Paphos A&E where he received treatment for fractures to his left ribs, left collarbone, right hand, and a ruptured spleen, and was detained for further care. The attending physician reported the man’s health as out of danger.
