Periods, wombs and uteruses. Is it time to talk about these things openly and through facilitated discussions? The Women of Cyprus and Let’s Talk Period Cyp certainly seem to think so as they introduce The Uterus Project. This month, the project launches with two talks in Nicosia inviting individuals with uteruses or not to join as they aim to raise awareness about reproductive rights and menstruation.
The first talk will take place on Saturday at the Goethe-Institut Cyprus where from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, invited speakers Dr Christiana Hadjidemetriou and Dr Christiana Kaili will discuss the topics. The second event on May 20, at the same place and same time, will host Dr Hadjidemetriou again, joined by Charis Charalampous. Online support for both events will be provided by licensed counselling psychologist Ioanna Xenophontos and the events hope to be the start of something new.
