Functional objects take centre stage

slotted need exhibition 2

Thalis Nicolaou Studio hosts the exclusive Slotted Need exhibition this June, showcasing its latest collection of functional objects and a selection of its signature side tables and consoles. From Wednesday to June 12 the exhibition will be open in Nicosia and a special opening event will take place on day one.

“We invite you to immerse yourself in the seamless fusion of making and design, reflecting the philosophy of Thalis Nicolaou Studio,” say organisers. “Each of our crafted pieces, either furniture or lighting, tells a unique story, showcasing the power of setting restrictions in unlocking boundless inspiration.”

Nicolaou, a Cypriot furniture and product designer, will showcase his new collection of high-end furniture and lighting designs. The exhibition opening will include a performance at 8pm, a live assemblage act which will be performed by local artist Dimitrios Ikonomou inspired by the philosophy and forms of the Thalis Nicolaou studio.

“Thalis Nicolaou’s collections are all conceived, developed, and produced in-house. Our belief is that design is the journey from the conception of an idea to its execution and that the design decisions taken within that journey are what shape the end result. Each of Thalis Nicolaou’s objects holds and displays the distinct story of how it got made, passing on to the user not just an aesthetically pleasing object, but a design experiment where form and function meet… Save the date and join us for a wonderful evening where we hope to connect, exchange ideas, and celebrate the artistry that inspires us all.”
