Fire breaks out in parked car in Paphos

A fire that broke out in a parked vehicle slightly damaged the electrical system of an apartment building in Paphos, it emerged on Monday.

Two fire engines rushed to the scene after receiving information at around 8.40pm on Sunday that a vehicle parked in the underground parking space of a two-apartment building was on fire.

The fire cause extensive damage to the car, while it also damaged a second one parked nearby, fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said on Twitter.

Due to the heat and smoke, the electrical installation and paint of the building were also damaged.

The fire service is investigating the causes of the fire together with the police.
