Remand for two who beat up woman, causing her to fall from a height

Two young men, aged 22 and 30, have been remanded on suspicion of assaulting a 25-year-old woman in Ayia Napa over the weekend, it emerged on Monday.

As a result of the attack, the woman fell from brick fence whose height is estimated at two or three metres, Famagusta police spokesman Steve Theodoulou told the Cyprus News Agency.

He explained that there was a dispute among them in the early morning hours on Saturday. The exact causes are still under investigation, he added.

The injured woman was rushed to the Famagusta General via ambulance. There, she was found to have a broken a tooth and bruises on different parts of her body. She later visited the local police station and filed a complaint, Theodoulou said.

The two suspects were arrested and were remanded for four days on Sunday.
