Limassol police on Tuesday made three more arrests in relation to an alleged attack against two people for their football preferences that took place last week in Ayia Fyla.

Based on testimonies and CCTV footage examined during the investigation, police secured evidence against three persons aged 21, 20 and 16, who were promptly arrested and taken in for questioning.

The incident involved around 30 young individuals wearing hoodies of a particular team, who used baseball bats to attack and injure two other young people for supporting a different team.

They reportedly stopped the two and asked what team they supported.

After finding out that they were fans of another team, they attacked them and injured them.

After the group left, the two victims went to the A&E department of the Limassol general hospital to seek treatment for their injuries.

A similar incident took place a few hours later, this time outside a café in Yermasoyia, where again some young individuals were questioned by a group on what was their preferred football team. No injuries were reported in the second incident.
