Performing is an art. It takes all sorts of skills to captivate an audience and own your stage presence. A workshop in Nicosia on Saturday 24 will teach participants how to perform poetry effectively and how to make the stage work for them. Stage fright out, confidence in.

The Performance Poetry 101: Mastering the Art of Performance workshop will take place at Goethe-Institut, led by performer and actress Natalia Panagiotou of the Yasemin Collective. Behind the workshop are KENO Publications and Atlantis Culture, who are teaming up to present a new series of workshops focused on this topic. This series of four workshops is aimed at novice and established poets who would like to explore performance and stage work for their poetry. Saturday’s session is the third workshop.

Starting at 10am, the session will run in English (with Greek translation available) and participants will be introduced to the world of performing. More specifically, Natalia will showcase how using acting techniques can help with a performance delivery. Participants will learn the difference between poetry that finds its home on the page and poetry that steps onto the stage, get feedback from experts in the field, build confidence reading on and off paper/screen, sharpen their stage craft and voice projection.
