Every summer, the island’s cultural agenda comes to life with beach parties, festivals and concerts at seaside locations. The capital tends to quieten down as we enter deeper into the summer yet art events still remain to keep Nicosians entertained. As July arrives, the CVAR Severis Foundation on Ermou Street welcomes a new art exhibition to its grounds.

Titled Landscapes, this photographic exhibition by Veysi Soyer will run from July 3 to 15 depicting images of landscapes taken mostly between 1985 and 2000 from all over the island. Soyer was born in Nicosia in 1952 and although a pharmacist by profession, he was the first Turkish Cypriot photographer to be awarded the AFIAP title. Since then, he has received a number of prizes for his work.

Soyer has exhibited widely and has worked as a photo editor for numerous magazines. Married with two adult children, he teaches photography and has served as a jury member in photographic competitions. With his Landscapes series, the photographer tried to capture the beauty of nature, the atmosphere and the luminous light, which will soon be presented at CVAR.
