The third candidate for the Green Party leadership elections withdrew his candidacy on Wednesday, leaving the fight to be played out between Efi Xanthou and Giorgos Perdikis.

Elections for the party’s top post are set to be held on Sunday at 10am at the Journalists’ House in Nicosia.

Candidate Sotiris Christou announced he was withdrawing, without delving into details.

The elections were sparked after the Green Party leader Charalambos Theopemptou resigned, a day after MP Alexandra Attalides left the party.

Xanthou announced her candidacy shortly afterwards, with the former party leader Perdikis also stating his interest in the post.
