This summer is definitely kind to us music lovers. Not only are the local music festivals back to their full pre-Covid glory, but more and more international stars are adding Cyprus to their summer tours. And here comes one more.

An all-female trio from the Caucasus will travel to our island later this summer for a single concert. Three young artists from Georgia make up Trio Mandili, who one day decided to sing during a walk in their village and record a selfie video. They uploaded it on YouTube and within a few days had millions of views. In a few short months, they became internet famous, well-known for their walking music videos and now, Trio Mandili tours the globe participating in traditional music festivals.

Tatuli Mgeladze, Tako Tsiklauri and Mariam Kurasbediani perform polyphonic songs, accompanied by traditional Georgian string instruments. The three women now have almost 349K followers on social media, 1,550,000 subscribers on YouTube and have appeared on TV and radio shows.

Following concerts in Romania, Trio Mandili will perform in Cyprus on September 20 at Limassol’s Municipal Theatre of Pano Polemidia, right before the musical group heads to Athens for a concert. Traditional Georgian elements and rhythms characterise their music and even the band’s name. Trio Mandili derives from the traditional Georgian handkerchief that women used to bring peace. Tickets for the concert in Cyprus are now available for purchase and their performance is expected to be a night full of polyphonic melodies and sounds.
